Duo arrested while trying to loot Bank in Kashmir with toy gun

Kupwara, July 21: Two persons were arrested while trying to loot cash from a bank here in North Kashmir’s Kupwara distirct on Tuesday.
Police sources told news agency KNT two youth barged into Grameen Bank located on Kupwara Highway near Nathnusa. The duo displayed toy gun and locked up two employees and Bank Manager in a cabin.

Sources added that some customers visited the bank and while sensing something fishy, they downed the shutter of the bank and informed police.

A team from Dragmulla Police Post arrived and arrested both persons along with a toy gun.

SSP Kupwara Shri Ram Ambedkar told KNT that two persons tried to steal cash from Grameen Bank and locked up the Manger of the bank and two employees.

“Police arrested the duo and recovered a toy gun and some packet. We have sent those packets to Laboratory to ascertain whether that is brown sugar or something else,” he said.

SSP Kupwara identified the duo as Ashiq Ahmed Wani son of Muhammad Ashan Wani and Javaid Ahmed Var son of Abdul Rahim Var, both residents of Kulangam Handwara. (KNT)
