As many as 12, 672 respondents participated in the poll. Of the total, 11, 002 of 87% respondents were in the favour of postponing the entrance examinations. About 1670 people however did not want the exams to be conducted as per the schedule.
Currently two separate pleas have filed in the Supreme Court. A group of students have approached the apex court, asking the exam dates to be postponed till normalcy return – citing safety concerns during the pandemic. Soon after the plea, a group of parents from Gujarat have approached the Supreme Court, asking it to intervene and ensure that the NEET, JEE Mani 2020 examinations are not delayed any further.
As per the parents association, the constant delay in the examination is detrimental to the mental health of the students. Parents have also raised concerns over the loss of the academic year. Already, with the delay in the examination dates, the academic year, which usually begins in July, has been postponed by four months.
JEE Main 2020 is scheduled to begin from September 1 and would be conducted till September 6 in various shifts. NEET 2020 or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test examinations is scheduled for September 13, 2020. Based on the results of JEE Main 2020 examination, JEE Advanced 2020 would then be conducted on September 23, 2020.
