Gunfight breaks out in Sirhama of south Kashmir’s Bijbehara

Update: Gun shots are being heard continuously from the last half an hour now.


Anantnag: According to Locals of Sirhama and other local news websites it was reported that a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Sirhama of Bijbhera area of in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday
According to the reports, a joint team of police, army, 03 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Sirhama.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed to a local news gathering agency Global News Service the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
