Don't be scared, vaccine is safe: Healthcare workers after getting first Jab

Srinagar, Jan 16 : Various health care workers who were first to receive Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday said that they volunteered themselves for the vaccine to send a message that vaccine is face and people must come forward to get a dose without any fear.

Tabasum Irshad, a head nurse in Srinagar based hospital, after getting the vaccine said that as healthcare workers they have to motivate others to get the vaccine.

"Healthcare workers were the first persons who came forward when Covid-19 pandemic broke out to treat Covid-19 patients. And today again it is health care workers, who came forward and motivated people to take Covid vaccine," Tabasum said.

Ravinder Singh, another health worker, said that people shouldn't give any heed to rumours as the vaccine is very safe and everybody must come forward to get it to end the pandemic.

Bashir Ahmad another health worker said that to set an example someone has to come forward and he did it so that people will come forward and take the vaccine without any fear.

"Many people are scared. So, I went to my seniors and said I should be given the vaccine first. I wanted to prove to people that there is no need to be scared," he said. "I would like to tell everyone that the fear about the vaccine is unwarranted. I have not noticed any reactions."

It is pertinent to mention here that prominent among those who were first to take vaccines include Dr A G Ahangar Director SKIMS, Urologist Dr Saleem Wani and Dr Bilkees Shah, Nodal officer for Covid-19 at JLNM Srinagar—
