Militants Escape Initial Site of Encounter in Budgam- Being Chased: Says IGP

Militants have managed to escape the Encounter that raged between Militant and Government Forces in the Beerwah area of Budgam district in Central Kashmir during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Jammu Kashmir Police for Kashmir range has said, “The Militants have managed to escape in Injured Condition, but their blood trace has been followed to another village two km away from the Encounter site, the area has been cordoned off.”

The Encounter had raged in the Beerwah area when during a joint cordon search operation conducted jointly by Jammu Kashmir Police, CRPF, and 53 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, the Militants opened fire.

This triggered an encounter and during the initial exchange of gunfire, one Policeman was killed and another injured, who was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, during another encounter in South Kashmir’s Shopian, three Militants have been killed in the Badigam area. Internet services have been snapped and a residential house has received damage during the gunfight.
