The Anti Militancy operation in Shopian district of south Kashmir is in its final stage after the killing of the fourth Militant on Monday morning.
An official told that the fourth Militant has been killed during the operation launched jointly by 34RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF in the Manihal area of Imam Sahib in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
He said that the Militants were constantly asked to surrender, however they refused the offers. “They kept firing in retaliation to our surrender offers,” the official said.
During the exchange of gunfire for Militants were killed who are being identified.
Meanwhile Sources identified the three slain as Amir Shafi Mir alias Abu Qasim, Rayees Ahmed Bhat and Aqib Ahmad Malik.
Identification of fourth one is being verified.
The encounter had erupted around 1 AM on Monday when joint forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Mainhal area.
The forces said they were fired upon by Militants when they were conducting the operation, which triggered an encounter.
During the exchange of gunfire, one Army man was also injured.
As per the latest reports available the Government Forces are conducting mass searches in the area.
Three bodies have been recovered so far. “The search for the fourth body is still on. Two pistols and one AK47 has been recovered so far from the slain Militants.”
Internet services have been suspended in the Shopian district as a precautionary measure
