*CBI arrests Sanitary Supervisor of JMC for demanding, accepting bribe*

Jammu, Apr 17 (KNO): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Saturday claimed to have arrested a Sanitary Supervisor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant.

According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), official spokesman said that CBI has registered a case on a complaint in this regard. 

“It was alleged that the Sanitary Supervisor, Jammu Municipal Corporation has demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000/- @ Rs.5000/- for the last 10 months from complainant for allowing him to join the duties. It was further alleged that the complainant (a Safai Karmchari of Jammu Municipal Corporation) had not paid the bribe, as such, the accused was not marking his attendance and had not allowed him to work.”

“The accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs. 45,000/- after negotiation,” the statement said, adding that CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000/- as 1st instalment of said bribe. 

“Searches were carried out at the office and residential premises of the accused at Jammu,” the statement said. 

“The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jammu and was remanded to Judicial Custody,” CBI said—(KNO)
