Amid surge in covid-19 cases, the university grants commission (ugc) has issued a fresh advisory for higher educational institutions directing the faculty, students and staff to spread awareness about it.
In an advisory, ugc secretary rajnish jain directed the vice-chancellors of all universities and principals of colleges to spread covid-19 awareness on five-fold strategy issued by the commission.
The advisory reads, “it is a cause of great worry that we are confronted with rising upward cases of covid-19 throughout the country and to address this emerging crisis, it has been decided to focus on the five-fold strategy to deal with the situation viz. testing, tracing, treatment, covid appropriate behaviour and vaccination.”
Ugc also said that the awareness regarding use of mask, frequently hand washing with soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitiser, not touching eyes, nose and mouth, maintaining social distancing and shunning large gatherings shall also be done by the vice-chancellors of all universities and principles of the colleges.
The ugc fresh advisory also states that if anybody with signs and symptoms of cough, fever or has difficulty in breathing should call national toll-free helpline or state helpline numbers.
