A factor of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemned his continuous house detention and said that “it is extremely unfortunate”.

In a statement, the pro-freedom faction said that the Mirwaiz’s detention has “deeply hurt the sentiments of the Muslims of Kashmir”.

“Even on the first Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan, the pulpit of the historic and central Jamia Masjid Srinagar continues to remain silent, as Mirwaiz e Kashmir Mohammed Umar Farooq continues to be kept under arbitrary house detention by the authorities,” the Hurriyat faction said.

It has been more than twenty months now since Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is detained at his home.
