US President Jo Biden has nominated Pakistani-American Zahid Qureshi of Gujar Khan as a district court judge

USA: US President Joseph Biden has nominated Pakistani-American Zahid Qureshi as a district court judge. Zahid Qureshi, from New Jersey, was confirmed to be the first Muslim American to serve as a federal district judge. Zahid Qureshi is from Gujar Khan and is the nephew of Professor Arshad Ali Qureshi a well-known figure in Gujar Khan.

Zahid Qureshi has been serving as a magistrate judge for 3 years. Governor Murphy, Senator Corey Booker and Senator Menendez praised the president’s move.

The American-Pakistani Public Affairs Committee thanked President Biden for the initiative.

AP Pack Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed said he had been at the forefront of the campaign for many years to give Muslim Americans adequate representation.

He added that the nomination of Zahid Qureshi as a federal judge was a historic moment and that he was grateful to President Joe Biden, Senator Booker, Senator Schumer and others who made the move possible.

Dr. Ejaz Ahmed said that 3.5 million Muslims live in the United States, now for the first time in history they will be represented.
