Govt. Degree College Shopian, renamed after slain army trooper

SHOPIAN: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today named an educational institution on the name of a local slain army trooper.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a function of renaming the Government Degree College Shopian here in south Kashmir was organized in which top officials from police, civil and army were present.

They said that Government Degree College Shopian will now onwards be called as “Imtiyaz Ahmad Thokar Memorial Model Degree College Shopian”.

Imtiyaz Ahmed Thokar was an Army para Trooper who was killed in an anti-militancy operation in North Kashmir’s Sopore on 24 February 2015.
