After Five Months, Special Operations Group has a New SP

After a gap of nearly five months, Jammu Kashmir Police’s elite anti-Militancy unit Special Operations Group (SOG), whose headquarter is in ‘Cargo’ Srinagar, has got a Superintendent of Police to head it, the Print reported Sunday.

Iftikhar Talib Superintendent of Jammu Kashmir Police will head the Special Operations group.

Tahir Ashraf, the last SP who headed the Special Operations groups was transferred to another place earlier this year.

Talib, as per a report published by The Print has extensive experience in anti-Militancy operations and has been part of the SOG earlier in other capacities, was on deputation to Ladakh. He took over the elite unit Saturday.

SOG personnel lead anti-Militancy operations in J&K, both in terms of actual encounters and generating intelligence.
