Today The Kashmir Graph has unfolded an incident oh harassment of a journalist Namely Danish Naseer hailing from North Kashmir's Tehsil Karnah. "Revealing these incidents takes a lot of courage for such journalists who write against those who promote terrorism on the terms of religion".
Danish naseer in a statement given to TKG told that On the evening of 7th April 2022,it was almost 6'o clock when I was returning home from Neti top with my friend Junaid Iqbal( resident of Khawarpara) A person namely Qadeer sheikh, 22 years old of Khawarpara Nard stopped us near the gas agency and Harrased us. He told me why I posted this on my Facebook and why I don't write about beef allowing and many more.
He told me not to write bright about the government and slapped me and kicked me.
When I tried to make a call to the Local police station, he Took my cell phone and threatened me . He Harrased both of us and even he called me a source to the Indian Army. He behaved very fishy and gave me life threat. He instructed me not to share this with anyone and told that he will defame me for not keeping a fast.
Now I just want to question that when the Constitution gives the right to freedom of religion then why he did so? If writing for your country isn't safe, then where we should go?
Why are these anti-national elements still roaming free in a country where there is no place for such men? Who is accountable for all this dilemma?
He Qadeer sheikh has worked as a porter in Indian Army and has posted false information that he is working in 20RR
I just Request Admin to keep an eye on such persons who defame our country's forces and try to stop us from working as pro indian.
safety of journalists and combatting impunity for those who attack them are central elements who support for press freedom on all media platforms but it seems that committing journalism is a crime.
Being Pro towards country, Showing Love towards country, Feeling despite for country is held as Names like sources, Agents and so on
Impunity for crimes against the media fuels and perpetuates the cycle of violence and the resulting self-censorship deprives society of information and further affects press freedom.
The issue is not confined to one region. Journalists in the Asian region have also faced severe threats and harassment just for doing their jobs. Asia has seen courageous journalists covering corruption, crime, trafficking, politics, business and human rights have been targeted.
Whenever a journalist is harassed or beaten, nobody is held accountable.
I Just request higher authorities to look up into the matter as I feel unsafe in this situation as I have life threats from him.
