Kargil Victory Day or Kargil Vijay Diwas is the day when we celebrate India’s victory over Pakistan in Kargil war during operation Vijay on 26th July 1999. Today on the occasion of 23rd anniversary of Kargil Victory Day, we commemorate the sacrifices made by the soldiers of Indian Armed forces wherein brave soldiers of Indian Army, displayed Indomitable courage to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, hostile terrain, weather and a determined enemy occupying dominating heights on the Mountain tops of North Kargil Districts in Ladakh, to win the Kargil war.
26th July is celebrated as the Kargil Vijay Diwas to honor the lives of the brave soldiers who laid their lives on the frontlines to secure a victory against the aggressive enemies and lived up to the motto of ‘Service before Self’.  Heroes like Captain Vikram Batra, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, Lieutenant Balwan Singh, Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar, and Naik Digendra Kumar are few amongst those 527 armed forced personnels whose accomplishments will be etched in our collective memories forever.

Kargil is one of the highest battlegrounds in the World which lies 200 KMs from the capital of Kashmir, Srinagar. It has an average temperature of subzero (-50 degrees Celsius). The enemies planned to cut off lines of communications between Kashmir valley and the areas of Ladakh but the gallant soldiers of Indian Army triumphed over the Pakistani invaders with undaunted courage & determination.
