Demands facilities at local bank branches / Anganwadi Centres.
Srinagar, Nov 12: Expressing strong resentment over the recent move for verification of pensions under old-age and setting up of a single centre at Jawahar Nagar (Srinagar) and forcing thousands of these senior citizens to sit in a scorching cold in long ques, JKPC Youth General Secretary Organization Mudasir Karim has said that the government should rethink the decision and provide a suitable facility at their door steps by setting up of these verification processes through local Bank branches just like government pensioners do or even through Anganwadi Centres in their localities.
He said that for a meagre amount of pension with an amount of approximately Rs 1000 only these old-aged persons are forced to walk lengthy distances and wait for long which is an inhuman act as well while this is also against the rights of these senior citizens to make them face such hardships in this hour of harsh winter.
Mudasir said that some of the youth delegations appraised the behaviour of some officials of the concerned department who are hell-bent to make inconveniencing these elders and even denying their wards to complete necessary verifications instead of the old-aged persons.
Mudasir Karim appealed to Hon'ble LG Manoj Sinha to intervene in this matter and direct the establishment of maximum centres at local levels for the facilitation of these senior citizens.
