Suspicious drone activity noticed near Jammu airport

Jammu, Nov 20: A suspicious drone activity was noticed near the Jammu airport area on Sunday after which an alert was sounded in the region.

A senior police officer said that a suspicious drone was detected by the Air Traffic Control (ATC) radars after which an alert was sounded near the Jammu airport and other vital security installations in the region.
As per initial reports, the suspicious activity was noticed at an aerial distance of 2 kilometers from the Jammu Airport by the ATC radars.
ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh told Rising Kashmir, “Soon after the suspicious drone was detected, a search operation was launched by the forces near the Jammu airport area but contact couldn’t be established with the suspicious object. It (drone) just disappeared after being detected.”
Asked whether it was flown locally or from across the border, he said, “It is not clear yet”.
Pertinently, two ammunition-laden drones crashed into the Indian Air Force Station at Jammu Airport earlier on June 27, last year, resulting in injuries to two IAF personnel. It was the first time that drones were used to target a security installation. The probe in the case was later handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
