All stakeholders need to unite against Drug Menace to save our generation and future - Mudasir Karim

Kashmir being the second slot on drugs is worth worrisome.


Expressing deep shock over the rising drug menace in Kashmir leaving Punjab behind in this heinous addiction,   Youth wing JKPC General Secretary Organization Mudasir Karim has said that being in the second slot after North East as the overall prevalence of substance abuse has reached 2.87 with heroin becoming most commonly used drug by the addicts as per the recent study conducted by the Government Medical College’s Psychiatry department,  is worrisome and needs collective efforts from all stakeholders of the society for saving the future generation of the state.


Mudasir said that the rising unemployment in J&K too has created distress, chaos and frustration among the young which lead them to take the path of crime and drugs. He urged all the stakeholders of society including religious bodies and the government to collectively come forward with appropriate policies and efforts to save this precious lot from devastation.


He also urged the government to come up with tough action against drug peddlers with the imposition of PSA involved in this heinous crime with no scope to use any kind of influence to curb this menace at large. 

Appealing to religious bodies and Imams of mosques to create mass awareness in every locality about the fallout of drugs and its ramifications for that everyone has to play a big role in leading the society towards the path of peace and a drug-free environment. He also urged the youth not to fall prey to such things and instead participate in sports and other curricular activities to fight drug addiction and come over alienation and distress.
