AMU Student Masroor Abass From Sopore Missing Since 08

A teenage Kashmiri student has gone missing from the Aligarh Muslim University, causing panic among his family members.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone, his family said that Masroor Abbas Mir aged 16, who is a resident of Sopore’s Bohripora area in north Kashmir has been missing since December 08.

“He left for school from the hostel early at 8 AM. But did not reach his school. We tried to call his friends and the school authorities, but nobody has been able to trace him as of now,” they said.

The family is worried about Masroor’s whereabouts and have been using every possible way to trace him, but so far no major success has been achieved in this regard.

“He had withdrawn money near Ramgath road and it is not possible for him to have reached the spot. We tried to call him, but his phone has been switched off since 10 AM,” the family member said.

Meanwhile the former chief minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti tweeted seeking help to locate the 16-year-old Masroor.

The family meanwhile has appealed to the Aligarh Police to help them trace the missing teenager.

The police have assured full help, they said.

A police official confirmed that they have received the missing report as of yet.

“He has withdrawn money from an ATM and we are trying to monitor the CCTV footage of that machine. As of now, we are trying our best to find the minor boy,” Jurisdictional officer of Aligarh Police told The Kashmiriyat over the phone.
