Contractors,PRI's alleged JE for demanding bribes of Soak pits approval



Bandipora Mar 29:- Several contractors including PRI members of Aloosa block of North Kashmir's Bandipora district alleged Junior Engineer (JE), for demanding and accepting bribes for  making their bills of work done by them.

The contractors protested in front of Block Development  Office Aloosa,raising slogans against officials for the corrupt system.

Speaking with the reporters one of the protesters from Aloosa Panchayat-B  said,"I have completed MSC Mathematics last year,due to less job opportunities i decided to work as a contractor in our village as in Panchayati Raj we have witnessed development in rural villages,but the corrupt system didn't allow us to earn and do our work".

"I have been asked to transfer three thousand rupees for approval of the estimate,we are thankful to our PRI members for giving us the opportunity to do work in our own Panchayat under various schemes of the government".

The protesters also alleged that the officials were accepting one thousand rupees from every beneficiary for approval of Soak pits.Pertiently mentioning the Rural Development Department across J&k is providing soak pits to active Mgnrega Job card holders to keep local water bodies pollution free.

Meanwhile Speaking with the said reporter, Block Development Officer, Aloosa, said that the JE only makes an estimate of the works which had been completed by the Contractor on ground. While asking the que  about the accepting bribe for approval of soak pits he said that will verify it.
