"MLA Karnah Javid Ahmed Mirch urged the youth of Karnah to stay away from these dangerous activities, warning them of the long-term consequences & calls for a statewide ban to protect the youth from destructive addiction and financial ruin.
In a powerful statement, MLA Karnah, Javid Ahmad Mirchal, has condemned the growing menace of online gambling apps that are wreaking havoc across Kashmir. The latest incident, where a man from Pulwama lost a staggering ₹82 lakhs in online betting, highlights the devastating toll these platforms are taking on the region's youth.
Mirchal emphasized that these apps are specifically designed to be addictive, drawing in young people with the illusion of easy wealth, only to leave them destitute, mentally broken, and emotionally shattered. He called on the Jammu and Kashmir government to take urgent and decisive action to ban these platforms before more lives are ruined.
"From Pulwama to Baramulla, the damage is widespread, and the toll on families is catastrophic," Mirchal said. "We cannot sit idly by while our youth, especially those in rural areas, fall prey to these harmful apps. They are destroying futures and families, and we must act now."
"The psychological impact is severe, and the social stigma prevents many families from coming forward to seek help. The time to act is now," he added.
The MLA's call to action echoes the urgent need for protective measures against the rise of online gambling in the region, urging authorities to safeguard the well-being of the youth before it's too late.
