In a significant step towards the development of Karnah Constituency, MLA Javid Ahmed Mirchal had a high-level meeting with Hon'ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, J&K, Chowdhary Javaid Ahmad Rana Sb at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu. The meeting was centered around the inclusion of Karnah in the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a vital initiative aimed at fostering holistic growth in tribal areas across Jammu and Kashmir.
After a thorough discussion, MLA Karnah urged the Hon'ble Minister to cover Karnah Constituency under this ambitious program, which promises to impact several key sectors. The proposed plan includes support from multiple departments, including the Rural Development Department, Jal Shakti, Power Development Department, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA), Education, Tourism, Tribal Affairs, and Health.
Among the critical developments in the proposal are:
Pucca houses for residents
H2H (Household) electrification to ensure energy access for all
Construction of Girls’ Hostels to support education
Development of Tribal Home Stays to promote sustainable tourism
Introduction of Multi-Marketing Concepts to boost local businesses
Deployment of Mobile Medical Units to enhance healthcare accessibility
Provision of LPG connections for cleaner cooking facilities
The Hon’ble Minister assured MLA Javid Mirchal that a detailed plan, outlining each scheme, will be submitted to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for formal approval and implementation. The entire Karnah Assembly Segment will benefit from the initiatives under the program, marking a new chapter for the region’s socio-economic growth.
In addition, MLA Karnah presented a proposal for bolstering the infrastructure in Karnah and Chowkibal under the Border Tourism Initiative, which is expected to drive substantial tourist footfall to the region, thereby boosting the local economy and creating job opportunities for the youth.
