In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has officially approached the Delhi High Court seeking bail for its incarcerated leader, Er Rashid. The former Member of Parliament from Baramulla, known for his outspoken advocacy for the rights of the marginalized and the democratic aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir, has been in prolonged detention, sparking widespread concern.

Chief Spokesperson of AIP, Inam Un Nabi, confirmed the filing of the bail application and announced that the case is listed for hearing on January 23. “This step is part of our unwavering efforts to ensure justice for our leader, whose prolonged detention raises serious concerns about fairness and due process,” he said in a statement.

The party emphasized that Er Rashid’s detention is not just a personal matter but a broader issue that touches upon the principles of democracy and justice. “Er Rashid has always been a voice for the marginalized. His continued incarceration is deeply concerning and a disservice to democratic values,” Inam Un Nabi added.

The AIP leadership has called on supporters and well-wishers to remain steadfast and pray for a favorable outcome in the upcoming hearing. Reaffirming their commitment to justice, the party vowed to explore all legal avenues to secure the release of its leader.

Er Rashid’s detention has remained a contentious issue, with critics alleging it highlights the challenges faced by political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. The upcoming hearing in the Delhi High Court is seen as a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal battle to secure his release.
