"MLA Langate Questions Unequal Ex-Gratia Measures, Urges Immediate Action for Pandrethan and Tangmarg Victims".

Senior AIP leader and MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad has voiced strong objections to the apparent disparity in ex-gratia relief for victims of tragedies in Kashmir province. During a visit to Uri to console the bereaved family of five from the Pandrethan fire incident, Khursheed criticized the government for inconsistent relief measures.

He pointed out that while victims of the Kishtwar cloudburst were swiftly granted Rs 5 lakh in ex-gratia along with additional SDRF aid, similar tragedies in Kashmir, like the Pandrethan fire and Tangmarg incident, have been met with silence and neglect.

“Are the lives lost in Kashmir less valuable? The lack of equal financial assistance is deeply troubling,” Khursheed stated, urging the Lieutenant Governor to ensure parity in relief measures.

He called for immediate ex-gratia announcements for the affected families, emphasizing that justice must be timely. "Every region deserves equal care and support in times of tragedy,” he said, adding that the government’s inconsistent response fuels regional mistrust.
