Srinagar/Jammu/Delhi, Jan 31, 2025 – The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has called for a mass hunger strike across multiple cities in solidarity with its incarcerated president and Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, who is set to begin a hunger strike inside Tihar Jail from tommorow.
All AIP functionaries, including District Presidents, constituency heads, and party workers, have been directed to participate in the protest, which begins at 9:30 AM in Srinagar, Jammu, and Delhi. The move is aimed at highlighting the alleged injustices faced by Engineer Rashid, who remains behind bars despite growing calls for his release.
Vice President of AIP, Advocate GN Shaheen, issued a strong appeal to party cadres, urging them to ensure maximum participation to make the protest meaningful and impactful.
“This hunger strike is not just about Engineer Rashid but about the larger cause of justice and democratic rights. We stand united in our demand for fairness, transparency, and the protection of fundamental rights,” said Shaheen.
The party hopes that this coordinated effort will amplify their message and draw national attention to Rashid’s plight. AIP leaders and activists are expected to gather in significant numbers at designated locations, demonstrating unwavering support for their incarcerated leader.
