Son of Senior BJP Leader Targeted in New Plot; Rushed to GMC Jammu for Treatment
Advocate Kanav Sharma, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha and son of senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma, was shot at by unidentified assailants in New Plot, Jammu, on Friday evening. The attack left Sharma with serious injuries, prompting an immediate rush to Sarwal Hospital, where he received emergency care before being referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots around 7 PM, sparking panic in the area. Police and forensic teams have cordoned off the scene and initiated an investigation to identify the attackers and their motive.
"This is a grave attack on a young political leader and raises significant security concerns in the region," stated a BJP spokesperson, calling for swift action to bring the culprits to justice.
Sharma’s condition remains stable, but the incident has heightened political tensions in Jammu, with leaders across parties condemning the attack and demanding enhanced security for political figures.
