"PDP leader Iltija Mufti takes a stand on discriminatory reservation policies, recruitment halts, and lack of transparency, urging immediate action to address rising unemployment and grievances of J&K’s youth."
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has voiced strong concerns over the growing frustration among Jammu and Kashmir’s youth due to what she described as "unjust and apathetic policies" by the administration. Speaking on issues ranging from discriminatory reservation policies and lack of age relaxation for JKPSI aspirants to the halting of recruitments across multiple sectors, Mufti highlighted the dire need for urgent reforms.
“Thousands of young people in J&K feel betrayed. The government has repeatedly failed to provide fair opportunities, and the situation worsens every day,” said Mufti during an address to party workers and youth representatives. She pointed out that despite repeated promises, critical decisions like age relaxations for JKPSI candidates remain unaddressed, leaving aspirants in limbo.
Mufti also slammed the government for not releasing the minutes of a recent high-level meeting, even eight days after it concluded, calling it a “complete lack of transparency” in governance. She further criticized the halting of recruitment processes, which has left thousands unemployed amid a worsening economic crisis.
“The youth of J&K deserve clarity and fairness, not silence and indifference. Discriminatory reservation policies and stalling recruitments are driving them into despair,” she said, urging the administration to prioritize the release of pending decisions and ensure inclusivity.
Iltija Mufti called on civil society and political stakeholders to unite in pressuring the government to address these pressing concerns, warning that continued neglect would deepen the sense of alienation among the region’s youth.
