J&K RTI Online Portal Launched: A New Era of Transparent Governance

"Chief Minister Omar Abdullah leads a major leap in citizen empowerment, unveiling a streamlined digital platform for Right to Information applications".

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information (RTI) Online Portal at the Civil Secretariat, marking a groundbreaking step towards promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

Flanked by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and Cabinet Ministers Sakeena Itoo, Javed Ahmad Rana, and Javed Ahmad Dar, the event was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta, and other senior officials.

In his speech, the Chief Minister praised the officers behind the portal, emphasizing its transformative impact on governance. “This initiative empowers citizens by providing easy, transparent, and cost-effective access to government information under the RTI Act,” he said, urging authorities to raise public awareness about the platform’s benefits.

The portal, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), simplifies the RTI process by enabling online applications, status tracking, and electronic responses. Secretary GAD, M. Raju, demonstrated the platform’s user-friendly features, highlighting its efficiency and potential to eliminate physical bureaucracy.

Integrating 61 government departments, 272 public authorities, and over 3,000 information officers, the portal represents a comprehensive shift towards digital governance in J&K, fostering a culture of accountability and informed citizenship.
