" Critical Fund Shortage Leaves Hundreds in Financial Distress as Pending Payments Mount".
A severe fund shortage in the Karnah Treasury has left hundreds of employees, pensioners, and contractors in financial turmoil, unable to access their rightful payments. Bills amounting to crores of rupees have been pending for months, causing widespread distress and hampering financial stability across the region.

According to reliable sources, GP Fund bills worth ₹10 crores have remained unpaid since September 26, 2024. Gratuity and other GP Fund and CP Fund bills total ₹4.25 crores, with an additional ₹9 lakhs in arrears, ₹3.30 crores owed to contractors, ₹30 lakhs for SLI, ₹6 lakhs in land compensation, and ₹3 lakhs in R&B deposits still pending. Moreover, leave salary bills of ₹83 lakhs and ₹6 lakhs for revised pensions of elderly pensioners are awaiting clearance.

This financial logjam has had a ripple effect on lives and livelihoods. A local contractor voiced his frustration, saying, “We completed the assigned projects in good faith, assuming the payments would be cleared on time. Now, our bills worth crores are lying unpaid, and we are left struggling to pay laborers and suppliers. This is causing immense financial stress for us.”

Government employees, too, are facing dire consequences. GP Fund withdrawals, which are often critical during emergencies such as weddings, medical treatments, or home repairs, have been delayed indefinitely. A distressed female employee recounted her ordeal: “I am exhausted from repeated visits to the treasury. Despite completing all paperwork and submitting my file three months ago, I still have no clarity on when my funds will be released. We are being told the treasury has no money.”

Pensioners, many of whom rely on their revised pensions to meet basic needs, are among the hardest hit. Others who initiated home construction projects based on expected funds now find themselves buried under debt, with creditors showing up at their doors.

The crisis has left the affected individuals pleading for immediate government intervention. They have urged authorities to release the necessary funds without further delay, ensuring the timely clearance of pending bills.

As this financial emergency continues to unfold, the government faces growing pressure to act swiftly and restore the region’s financial operations, providing much-needed relief to hundreds of families in Karnah.
