Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir – In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended two individuals with 10 grams of heroin on Friday evening. The arrest was made during routine checks at a checkpoint set up by Police Post Bazaar in Galizoo.
A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest, stating, "At approximately 1800 hours, two individuals behaving suspiciously were stopped for inspection. A personal search revealed a heroin-like substance weighing 10 grams."
The arrested individuals were identified as Mohd Ashraf Khan, son of Ghulam Ali Khan, and Irshad Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, both residents of Halmatpora.
An FIR under No. 09/2025 U/S 8/21-29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara, and further investigation is underway. This operation marks another step in the ongoing fight against the drug menace in the region.
