"Sheikh Khurshid calls on CM Omar Abdullah and LG to address administrative chaos in Kupwara, slams inefficiency affecting public services".
In a fiery critique of the administration, MLA Langate and Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) leader Sheikh Khurshid has raised serious concerns over a Block Development Officer (BDO) in Kupwara district holding six charges simultaneously. Terming the situation as a burden on the common people, Khurshid urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Lieutenant Governor’s office to intervene immediately.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Khurshid lambasted the government, stating, “Assigning multiple blocks to one BDO creates unnecessary hardships for people, who are forced to chase the officer across different block headquarters.” He sarcastically suggested, “Why not hand over the entire district to the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) or another district-level officer? At least the common man won’t waste time searching for the BDO at six locations.”
Khurshid stressed that while administrative efficiency is crucial, it must not come at the expense of public convenience. He called for immediate corrective measures to streamline the functioning of the rural development department and alleviate the struggles of the people in Kupwara.
The issue has sparked public debate, with many backing Khurshid’s demand for a more people-centric approach to governance. (KNS)
