"Banihal MLA Calls for Boost to Regional Connectivity, Cites Benefits for Local Economy and Commuters".
Banihal, Jammu & Kashmir: Sajad Shaheen, the MLA from Banihal, has called on the Union Railway Minister, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, to sanction a stop for the prestigious Vande Bharat Express at Banihal. Highlighting the region’s strategic importance and the need for enhanced connectivity, Shaheen stressed that this move would greatly benefit the people of Banihal and surrounding areas.
“Providing a stop for the Vande Bharat Express at Banihal will not only improve connectivity but also serve as a boon for commuters, tourists, and local businesses,” Shaheen stated. He emphasized that Banihal serves as a critical link between the Jammu and Kashmir regions and has significant potential to boost economic activity if better integrated into the rail network.
Shaheen further noted that a stop at Banihal would align with the government’s vision of fostering regional development and accessibility, particularly in remote and hilly areas. “This step will bridge gaps in transportation, reduce travel time, and make the region more accessible for students, professionals, and visitors,” he added.
The Vande Bharat Express, known for its speed and modern amenities, has been a symbol of India’s advancing rail infrastructure. Shaheen’s appeal reflects the aspirations of the Banihal constituency, where improved rail services could significantly impact daily life and economic prospects.
The MLA urged the Railway Ministry to consider the needs of the people of Banihal and prioritize the inclusion of a stop for the Vande Bharat Express in future schedules. “This is not just a matter of convenience; it is about ensuring equitable development and bringing the benefits of modern infrastructure to every corner of the country,” he concluded.
The proposal has received widespread support from local residents and stakeholders, who hope for a positive response from the Railway Ministry.
