"Civil Society Karnah's General Secretary Stresses the Need for Year-Round Heli Services, Staff Shortages at SDH Tangdhar, and Transparent Policies to Address Local Challenges".
Raja Waqar, the General Secretary of Civil Society Karnah, has expressed his appreciation for the government's decision to initiate helicopter services for remote and inaccessible areas. Speaking on the matter, Waqar emphasized that remote regions like Karnah require uninterrupted, 12-month helicopter services to address the urgent needs of local residents effectively.
While welcoming the initiative, Waqar voiced concerns about mere announcements without practical implementation. “It is not enough to state on paper that helicopter services are available; tangible measures must follow to ensure that people in remote areas benefit from this service. Any failure in this regard will not be tolerated,” he stated firmly.
Highlighting pressing issues in Karnah, Waqar drew attention to the critical shortage of staff at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tangdhar, which continues to hamper healthcare delivery in the region. He urged the government to review appointments made under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and called for the introduction of a proper transfer policy to ensure an equitable distribution of medical staff across rural and remote areas.
“These are not just demands; they are essential for the survival and well-being of the people living in difficult terrains. The government must take immediate steps to address these issues comprehensively,” Waqar concluded.
The Civil Society Karnah has vowed to continue advocating for the rights and welfare of the local population, urging authorities to prioritize the development of basic infrastructure and healthcare in remote regions.
