"AIP Leader Accuses J&K Chief Minister of Political Opportunism, Weakening Opposition Against BJP".
Awami Itihad Party (AIP) senior leader and MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad lambasted Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his ambiguous stance on the INDI Alliance and Delhi Assembly elections. Sheikh Khursheed accused Omar of political opportunism and failing the opposition’s mandate to counter the BJP’s divisive agenda.
“Omar Abdullah’s statement that ‘we have nothing to do with Delhi elections’ is a shocking abdication of responsibility,” Sheikh Khursheed stated. “By distancing himself, he’s emboldening BJP’s plans to erode democratic values beyond Lok Sabha elections.”
Echoing the words of AIP’s Er Rashid, Sheikh Khursheed added, “Betrayal runs in Omar’s genes. His party squandered J&K’s mandate for personal power. Now he exploits the INDI Alliance for convenience, proving he has no commitment to its collective cause.”
Sheikh Khursheed further criticized Omar’s complaints about a lack of clarity in the INDI bloc. “If there’s no clarity, why cling to the alliance? This hypocrisy reveals his inability to lead or contribute meaningfully,” he said, branding Omar’s actions as detrimental to the opposition’s unity.
Accusing Omar of undermining democratic principles, Sheikh Khursheed questioned his refusal to confront BJP in Delhi. “This is an open invitation for BJP to consolidate power. Omar’s self-serving politics betray the trust of the people who expect a firm resistance to authoritarianism,” he asserted.
Sheikh Khursheed concluded with a sharp warning to opposition leaders. “Omar Abdullah must choose between serving the people and serving his convenience. His duplicity weakens the alliance and democracy. If he cannot act decisively, he should step aside.”
