» “A Year of Neglect: Chota Kursi Road in Karnah Still Blocked, Officials Turn Blind Eye”
"Residents Demand Urgent Action; No Development Despite Repeated Appeals; R&B Department Fails to Respond".
Kupwara, Feb 1 – It has been over a year since landslides blocked the Chota Kursi Road in the upper reaches of Dildar-Bhatpora, Karnah, yet no action has been taken to clear the debris. Despite multiple visits and repeated pleas by local residents, the concerned Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department has failed to act, leaving the area disconnected and its people struggling.
Residents, who have been left to fend for themselves, are now urging elected representatives to intervene and address their grievances. “We voted to have our problems solved, not to be ignored,” lamented a local resident. “This is the heart of Karnah, yet no one cares about our suffering.”
The inaction has only worsened daily hardships, affecting transportation, access to medical facilities, and economic activities in the region. Frustrated by the administration’s silence, the people of Dildar-Bhatpora are now demanding immediate intervention from the authorities.
“Enough is enough. How long will we be left in isolation? It’s been more than a year, and still, no action has been taken,” another resident said.
The residents warn that if the road is not cleared soon, they will be forced to take their protest to the streets. They have called on the district administration and higher authorities to break their silence and address this long-standing issue before the situation worsens further.
