AIP Urges Prayers as MP Er Rashid’s Health Worsens on 9th Day of Hunger Strike

Jailed Kashmir MP Hospitalized Amid Rapid Weight Loss; AIP Calls for Immediate Action
New Delhi, February 8: The Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) has raised alarm over the deteriorating health of incarcerated Member of Parliament Er Rashid, who remains on an indefinite hunger strike demanding his rightful place in Parliament. On the ninth day of his protest, Er Rashid is reported to be losing weight rapidly at RML Hospital, New Delhi, where he has been hospitalized due to his declining condition.

Expressing grave concern, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi urged people to pray for Er Rashid's well-being and strength during this critical time. "Despite his fragile health, he remains resolute in his demand to represent his people—the largest constituency in Kashmir. His peaceful protest is a testament to his unwavering commitment to democracy," he stated.

Calling for urgent intervention, AIP has appealed to civil society, human rights organizations, and political leaders across party lines to demand Er Rashid’s immediate release. "This is not just about one person; it is a democratic and humanitarian crisis. Parliament must uphold justice and ensure his rightful place is restored," Inam Un Nabi emphasized.

Reaffirming faith in the judiciary, he added, "We believe in the Constitution and the principles of justice. Er Rashid's continued incarceration is a test of India’s democratic values, and we remain hopeful that fairness will prevail."

As Er Rashid’s health worsens, pressure is mounting on authorities to respond. With voices growing louder for his release, all eyes are now on whether justice will be served or if his protest will escalate into a deeper political crisis.
