Darkness Engulfs Karnah: Residents Suffer as Power Remains Out for 20 Hours

Prolonged outage disrupts daily life, businesses, and essential services; authorities remain unresponsive

Karnah, Kupwara(TKG): Residents of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are grappling with a prolonged power outage that has left them in darkness for nearly 20 hours. The sudden and extended blackout has severely impacted daily life, businesses, and essential services, sparking outrage among the locals.

With temperatures dropping, people are struggling to keep warm, and students preparing for exams find themselves unable to study. Shopkeepers, medical facilities, and other essential services have also taken a hit, with many relying on costly alternatives like generators to sustain operations.

Frustrated by the inaction of authorities, residents have urged the Power Development Department (PDD) to take immediate steps to restore electricity and ensure such disruptions do not occur in the future & there has been no official statement addressing the cause of the outage or a timeline for restoration.

Speaking to The Kashmir Graph a Local resident said ,“The power situation in Karnah has always been unreliable, but this level of negligence is unacceptable. We are suffering, and no one seems to care”.

With no resolution in sight, the people of Karnah demand urgent intervention from higher authorities to address their plight and prevent further inconvenience.
