45 Hours of Darkness: Karnah Plunges into Blackout, Residents Furious

Special Subdivision Karnah in North Kashmir’s Kupwara Faces Severe Power Outage, Residents Demand Urgent Government Action

KARNAH, KUPWARA(TKG): In a shocking display of official apathy, the Special Subdivision Karnah in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been without electricity for an agonizing 45 hours, pushing residents to the brink of despair. The prolonged blackout has disrupted daily life, crippled businesses, and left people struggling in freezing temperatures.

With no response from the authorities, frustration is mounting. Residents report that the power crisis has worsened over time, with no permanent solution in sight. "We are forced to live in the dark, cut off from the world, while officials continue to ignore our suffering," said a resident of Tangdhar.

The outage has hit students particularly hard, preventing them from preparing for upcoming exams. "How can we study in such conditions? We have no light, no internet, nothing," said a distressed student.

Local shopkeepers and business owners are also suffering heavy losses. Essential services, including healthcare facilities, are facing immense difficulties, with patients struggling in cold hospital wards.

Despite repeated pleas, the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to restore electricity or provide a clear response. The residents of Karnah are now warning of mass protests if their demands are not met immediately.

"This is an emergency, yet no one seems to care. We demand immediate restoration of power and a long-term solution to our electricity crisis," said another angry resident.

As Karnah remains in complete darkness, its people are left questioning why they continue to be ignored. The residents urge the administration to step up, take responsibility, and put an end to their suffering before the situation spirals out of control.
