Court Dismisses Plea of Advocate Mian Qayoom in Babar Qadri Murder Case
Srinagar, Feb 21: In a significant ruling, the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on Wednesday quashed the detention of journalist Majid Hyderi under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Justice V K Chatterjee set aside the PSA charges against Hyderi, who was arrested in September 2023 on allegations of extortion and defamation and lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, his counsel Advocate Mohammad Yousuf Bhat confirmed.
Meanwhile, the court dismissed a plea filed by advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom challenging his PSA detention. Qayoom was arrested in December 2023 in connection with the murder of advocate Babar Qadri.
