Pulwama MLA Waheed Para calls legislative push a "deliberate delay tactic," says reservation reform in J&K is a matter of political will, not legal hurdles.Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Pulwama MLA Waheed Para has strongly criticized the prolonged legislative process regarding reservations in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that a single government order is enough to implement the necessary reforms.
Para dismissed the need for a legislative amendment, calling it a "deliberate tactic to delay" reservations for deserving communities. "This is about political will, not legislation," he stated, accusing the administration of stalling under the guise of legal complexities.
"The government has the authority to issue an order and implement the changes immediately. The insistence on pushing bills and amendments is just a smokescreen to buy time," Para said, highlighting the pressing need for reservation reforms in the region.
His remarks come amid growing concerns that key policy decisions affecting marginalized groups in J&K are being delayed due to political maneuvering rather than genuine legal constraints. The PDP leader urged the government to act decisively and ensure that the benefits of reservation reach those in need without unnecessary bureaucratic delays.
Political observers see Para’s statement as a direct challenge to the ruling administration, which has yet to take concrete action despite mounting pressure. Whether the government will heed his call or continue with legislative roadblocks remains to be seen.
