Kashmiri Blood Is Not Cheap': Er Rashid Demands Probe Into Civilian Killings, Seeks Better Connectivity for Remote Areas

"Raises Civilian Killings in Parliament, Demands Probe', Highlights Remote Area Woes"
New Delhi: In a fiery speech during the ongoing Budget session, Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, raised the issue of recent civilian deaths in Jammu and Kashmir, demanding an impartial probe. Citing the deaths of Waseem Ahmed Mir, who was killed in Army firing at a naka checkpoint in Baramulla, and Makhan Din, who allegedly died by suicide due to police atrocities in Kathua, Rashid asserted, "Our blood is not cheap. We have the right to live."

The deaths have triggered widespread outrage, with political leaders calling for justice. Rashid urged Parliament to ensure a thorough investigation, emphasizing that civilian lives cannot be treated with disregard.

Apart from the killings, Rashid also highlighted the struggles of residents in remote areas of north Kashmir, including Karnah, Keran, and Machil. "These people survive for six months with God's blessings," he said, pushing for the construction of a tunnel to improve connectivity in these regions.

His speech came after the Delhi High Court granted him two-day custody parole to attend the session, with strict restrictions barring him from using the internet or speaking to the media. Despite these limitations, Rashid's intervention in Parliament has reignited the debate over human rights and infrastructure neglect in Jammu and Kashmir.
