"Family of Mohammad Rafi Seeks Justice Amid Years of Uncertainty"
Srinagar, February 2025(TKG) – The Awami Itihad Party (AIP) has called upon External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to urgently intervene in the case of Mohammad Rafi, a 36-year-old networking engineer from Soura, Srinagar, who has been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia since early 2020 under unclear circumstances.
Rafi, who was working at King Faisal University in Hofuf, Al-Ahsa, saw his life take a tragic turn when he was detained without a transparent legal process. Despite relentless efforts by his family to obtain clarity on his case, they remain in the dark about his condition and the exact charges against him.
AIP's chief spokesperson, Inam Un Nabi, took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the family's plight, emphasizing the severe emotional and financial distress they are enduring. "Despite numerous appeals, Mohammad Rafi's family continues to suffer without proper information or justice for their loved one,His prolonged detention has caused immense emotional and financial distress to his family back home." he stated.
Urging the Indian government to take swift action, AIP has requested External Affairs Minister Shri S Jaishankar to engage with Saudi authorities and ensure transparency and due process in Rafi’s case. "Your timely action can restore hope and bring relief to this family seeking justice," the party’s appeal read.
The case raises serious concerns about the treatment of Indian expatriates and the need for stronger diplomatic efforts to protect their rights. As Rafi’s family waits in agony, their only hope now rests on urgent intervention from the highest levels of the Indian government.
