"Senior Awami Itihad Party Leader Calls for Immediate Intervention from State Governments and Police Officials".
Srinagar, February 14 – Kashmiri traders, particularly those selling shawls in Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, are facing increasing violence from local goons, raising serious concerns about their safety.
According to a statement ,senior leader of Awami Ittihad Party and Trehgam constituency head, Advocate Nazir Ahmad Mir, condemned the escalating attacks on Kashmiri traders in these states. He stated that Kashmiri vendors and laborers are living in constant fear for their lives and livelihoods.
Mir urgently appealed to the respective state governments to intervene and ensure the safety of Kashmiri traders and laborers. He also called upon the Jammu and Kashmir government to take up the matter with concerned authorities to address the growing concerns of the victims' families.
Expressing deep concern over these rising incidents, Mir highlighted that Kashmiri people travel to these states purely for work, contributing to the local economy. However, instead of being welcomed, they are being subjected to looting and harassment. He pointed out that particularly from Kupwara, Trehgam, Guzrial, Warsun, Reshi Kund, Dardpora, Rashanpora, and Malial, Kashmiri vendors have been attacked, their belongings stolen, and their dignity violated.
He urged local authorities to take immediate and strict action against those responsible for these crimes and to ensure that Kashmiri traders can continue their businesses without fear. Mir further emphasized that such incidents tarnish the image of these states and create unnecessary communal tension.
The issue has sparked outrage among Kashmiri communities, who demand swift justice and accountability from the authorities. The government must act now to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of all traders working across state borders.
