Massive Crackdown in Kashmir After Kulgam Terror Attack: 500 Suspects Detained

"Security Forces Intensify Raids to Root Out Terror Networks"

Srinagar, J&K – In a sweeping counter-terror operation following the brutal terror attack in Kulgam, security forces have detained over 500 suspects, Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and terror associates across the Kashmir valley. The overnight raids come in response to Monday’s targeted attack in Behibagh, Kulgam, where militants shot three civilians at point-blank range.

One of the victims, Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, a former Territorial Army soldier, succumbed to his injuries, while his wife Aaina Akhtar (32) and a minor girl Sania Hameed (13) sustained leg wounds and are recovering.

A senior police official confirmed the large-scale detentions, stating, “We are determined to dismantle terror networks and prevent further attacks. Those detained are being questioned for possible involvement in militant activities.”

The crackdown underscores the security forces' commitment to neutralizing terror threats, as investigations into the Kulgam attack continue. Authorities have assured that those responsible will face the full force of the law while vowing to protect residents and visitors in the volatile region.

This operation marks one of the largest counter-terror actions in recent times, signaling zero tolerance for terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
