Police Solve Two Theft Cases in Srinagar, Arrest Three Accused
Srinagar Police have successfully solved two burglary cases, leading to the arrest of three individuals involved in the crimes.
In the first case, Police Post Hazratbal received a complaint from Junaid Maqbool Mir, a resident of Litter Pulwama, stating that his Vivo Y21 mobile phone was stolen at the Dargah Shrine on February 13.
According to the News Agency—Srinagar News Observer (SNO)Following the registration of an FIR (No. 12/2025) at Police Station Nigeen, an investigation was launched. The police identified and apprehended two suspects—Gowhar Ahmad Wani from Aarigam Budgam and Mohammed Shoaib Sheikh from Khanshab Budgam. During questioning, they admitted to the crime.
Based on their disclosure, police recovered the stolen Vivo Y21 along with seven other mobile phones (three Redmi, one Oppo, two Realme, one Samsung) and a 20,000mAh power bank. Further investigation is underway, and additional recoveries are expected.
In a separate incident, Police Post Noorbagh received a complaint from shopkeeper Ishfaq Ahmad Dev of Bhagwanpora Noorbagh, who reported that thieves had broken into his shop overnight and stolen cash and valuable items.
An FIR was registered at Police Station Safakadal, and investigators analyzed CCTV footage and technical evidence. The accused, identified as Suhaib Ahmad Dar from Guzarbal Noorbagh, was arrested. Upon his disclosure, police recovered ₹50,000 in cash and a cheque from his residence.
