94 Hours and Counting: Karnah Left Powerless, Authorities Silent Amid Freezing Cold

Kupwara’s border region grapples with a prolonged electricity outage, leaving thousands in distress
Karnah, Kupwara(TKG)The entire Karnah subdivision of North Kashmir's Kupwara district has been without electricity for the past 94 hours, leaving residents in extreme distress as freezing temperatures persist. The outage has disrupted daily life, paralyzing essential services, including healthcare, businesses, and education.

Despite the prolonged blackout, the Power Development Department (PDD) has not issued any official statement, leaving people frustrated and clueless about when the issue will be resolved. “What is lacking? Why is there no official press note from PDD? Where do we knock?” questioned a local resident, reflecting the growing outrage among the people.

With communication networks also affected, many fear the crisis may worsen if authorities do not intervene immediately. Residents have urged the district administration and higher officials to take swift action, warning of protests if their plight continues to be ignored.
