Electoral Reforms Discussed at SDM Karnah Meeting with Political Representatives

Karnah, March 15, 2025(TKG) In a crucial move to enhance electoral processes, the Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah convened a meeting with representatives of political parties on Friday. The meeting, held in compliance with Election Commission directives, focused on strengthening electoral frameworks and addressing key concerns.

Chaired by SDM Karnah, the discussion saw participation from five political party representatives. Key issues raised included rationalizing polling stations based on distance, shifting Polling Station 24 in Tangdar, and improving the quality of electoral roll images. Additionally, concerns over errors in the electoral roll and the provision of PVC EPICs (Election Photo Identity Cards) were highlighted.

The SDM assured that recommendations for rationalizing polling stations and shifting PS 24 would be forwarded to the Election Commission of India (ECI) as per necessity. Meanwhile, the responsibility for correcting electoral roll particulars and ensuring image quality was assigned to Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

Sub Divisional Magistrate Zaffar Ahmad Lone (JKAS) signed off on the proceedings, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to a transparent and inclusive electoral process. The minutes were forwarded to the District Election Officer Kupwara for further action.

This meeting marks a step forward in addressing electoral grievances and ensuring a smoother democratic exercise in Karnah ahead of upcoming elections.h Political Representatives
