DSEK Directs Immediate Compliance, Reports Due by March 15
Srinagar, 2025(TKG) – In a significant move to streamline the education sector, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued a directive ordering the immediate repatriation of all teaching staff currently deployed for administrative duties in various offices and departments.
The order, issued under No. 68-DSEK of 2025, states that all teachers engaged in non-teaching assignments must return to their parent institutions without delay. Additionally, non-teaching staff working outside their designated departments are also required to be repatriated.
Vigilance Officers to Oversee Implementation
To ensure strict adherence, District Vigilance Officers and Additional District Vigilance Officers have been tasked with monitoring the implementation process. They are required to personally oversee the transition and submit compliance reports to the Directorate by March 15, 2025.
Crackdown on Staff Shortages in Schools
The decision comes amid growing concerns over staff shortages in schools, as many teachers remain engaged in non-academic roles. Educationists have long criticized the practice of deploying teachers to administrative posts, arguing that it hampers the quality of education and disrupts the learning process for students.
Major Reshuffle Expected in School Administration
With the directive now in effect, a large-scale reshuffle is anticipated, bringing back hundreds of teachers to classrooms across Kashmir. Officials believe this will significantly improve the student-teacher ratio and strengthen the education system.
Accountability and Future Actions
The DSEK has warned of strict action against officials failing to comply with the order. The compliance reports will be closely reviewed, and any discrepancies could lead to administrative measures.
Education stakeholders and parents have welcomed the move, expressing hope that it will refocus resources on academics and enhance the overall quality of education in government schools.
