Trucker held with 49kg of poppy straw at banihal.

Today While  routine naka checking at T. Chowk Banihal Police party of Police station Banihal intercepted one truck bearing registration No. HP33B-9790  for checking.During the process of checking, 49 Kg of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said vehicle. The accused driver who on questioning disclosed his identity as Darminder Singh S/O Manjeet Singh R /O Nuvgjja  Distt. jalandhar  Punjab was arrested on spot and the contraband substance weighing around 49Kg was seized. During preliminary questioning, the driver confessed that he was illegally transporting the poppy Sraw from kashmir to Punjab. 

In this connection, a case FIR No. 85/2021  U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Banihal and investigation taken up.

A police party headed by SHO Banihal inspector Nayeem intercepted two pedestrians who on seeing the police tried to flee from the naka at banihal. During the process of checking of said accused 80 gms of  Charas was recovered from their possession. 

The accused on their arrest disclosed their identities as: 1)Manzoor Ahmed matoo    S/O  Gulm Hassan matoo R/O  Dooligam tehsil Banihal and (2) Asif Ahmed shiekh S/O Abdul Rashid shiekh R/O Dooligam tehsil Banihal dist. Ramban. In this connection, a case FIR No. 74/2021  U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Banihal and investigation taken up.

It is pertinent to mention here that two days earlier also  Banihal Police.
