Class 10, 12 biannual exams from Sep 21, 35k students to appear in Kashmir

 Srinagar: More than 35000 students are set to appear for class X and XII bi-annual examinations in Kashmir from September 21.



Students who have passed two or more than two subjects have already been promoted to the next class. However, those students who have a backlog in four or more subjects will have to appear in a bi-annual examination.

Joint Secretary Examination, BOSE, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Hakak told The Kashmir Monitor that around 28000 students are appearing for the class 10th bi-annual examination and around 7000 students for class 12th bi-annuals.

“We have identified 515 examination centers for class X student. There will be 206 centers for students appearing in class 12th bi-annuals. We have also passed directions for the sanitization of exam centers. Many exam centers were earlier makeshift COVID-19 wellness centers. We have also directed to shift these centers before the examination,” he said.

Hakak noted that in case any student has COVID-19 like symptoms they will be allowed to write the examination in separate rooms.

Director School Education Kashmir has issued an order directing the concerned officials to start preparing for the bi-annual examination.


Concerned officials have been asked to ensure fumigation and sanitization of the institutions one day before the commencement of the examination. In case their institution is utilized for the COVID-19 quarantine center, they should inform BOSE officials immediately so that the center is shifted, the order.

“The institutions should make all the space available to accommodate examinees according to the physical distancing norms. Concerned officials should display guidelines within the premises of the examination center regarding social distancing, use of face masks and sanitizers, and maintain proper hygiene,” the order said.

Chief education officers have been given strict directions to ensure the implementation of health protocols. BOSE officials have been asked to remain in touch with the district administration for the sanitization and fumigation of examination centers.
