Aqib Bashir from shopian Trenz killed in Srinagar encounter

The Militant killed in Srinagar’s Natipora area has been identified as a resident of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Jammu Kashmir Police has tweeted,”As per the I/Card recovered from the killed militant, he has been #identified as Aqib Bashir Kumar of Trenz and was affiliated with LeT.

His brother speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone confirmed his identity.

The Jammu Kashmir Police had said that an encounter raged when Militants opened fire upon force personnel in the Natipora area. The Police retaliated resulting in the killing of one Militant, while as one more Militant escaped from the spot.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, his brother from Shopian’s Trenz said that Aqib son of Bashir Ahmed Kumar has been missing for nearly a year. “Aqib aged 24 went missing on 12 November 2020. The family had filed a missing report in Imam Sahib Shopian,” Ishfaq Kumar, his brother said while confirming that the deceased is his brother.

” I saw the photo of his dead body, It is him,” he said.
